A Chat w/ Dione Rolfe
We are always looking for inspiring women who manage to go after their dreams and fulfill one of the BEST positions ever! Women who have set personal goals to achieve the MOST out of life and have totally reinvented what it means to be a MOM! We are so excited to tell you about this wonderful Mom and her Royal, please say hello to Dione Rolfe.
Thank you for taking the time to chat with us today. Please introduce yourself and tell us about your businesses/creative endeavors.
Hello everyone, my name is Dione Rolfe. I’m a twenty-six year old Tampa-native, a single mother to a very bright & handsome young man (Corey Rolfe, 4yrs) and I am one of ten children. I am the creator of Create A Space where I operate as a professional home organizer. Create A Space is a business that was given to me by God after I heard a sermon one evening in my young-adults bible study. The pastor spoke about showing God’s love through serving others and I immediately began to ask God, “What could I do to serve others?”. He showed me that I could help other women, by helping them organize their homes. Not just their “physical homes”, but also their “spiritual” and “mental” homes. I truly believe, that your home is a reflection of what’s going on inside of you. I’m inspired to help other women find inner-peace by simply helping them to create a space in their homes that is neat, peaceful, clean and clear of clutter.
Wow! That’s powerful. What goals do you have for your business?
My goals for my business are to one day hire a team of organizers to expand and help more clients. I believe we can help many women through helping them sort through life’s issues by simply sorting through items in their homes.
That’s phenomenal, how has motherhood changed you creatively?
Becoming a mother has made me less selfish, more caring, compassionate and more patient which has forced my creativity to be less about self and more about others. It’s also provoked me to think beyond my own future and think about my child’s future and what I can do now to make his future more successful.
When and where are you most inspired to be creative?
To be honest, I’m most creative when facing difficult times in my own life. There’s something rewarding about taking the focus off myself and shifting it to other things, people and activities.
Have you set any goals for your relationship with your Royal?
Strengthening my relationship and bond with my son is definitely at the top of my goals list. In this season of my life, I want to be more intentional about spending time with God, myself and my son. I went through a divorce last year with my son’s father and being single after 5 years hasn’t been the easiest, but what a great time to get to know myself better, solidify my relationship with God and really nurture my son. He’s growing up so fast and is learning so much and I want to be there for every moment in these fundamental years of his life. I also plan to cut back on my “social media” time so that I can accomplish these goals.
How very brave of you! What makes you feel successful as a mother?
Don’t laugh, but giving my son a bath, feeding him, helping him with his homework and having him in bed by 8:30pm gives me a great sense of success! Lol! I also feel successful in being able to provide for him financially and emotionally.
As a Mother, are you struggling in any area?
I would probably say my biggest struggle currently is accepting the fact that I am now a single-parent. It was never in my plans or dreams to be a single-mother. I got married first so that I wouldn’t have to be a single mom, but life doesn’t always go as planned, and that’s ok. I am learning to adjust everyday to my new role and responsibilities and with the help of my faith, family and friends…it’s not as hard as I thought it would be.
Thank you for being so transparent. What inspires you?
Women who have been through their own struggles and came out on the other side refined; thriving. That really inspires me. Growing up, I honestly don’t remember seeing women who I just absolutely aspired to be like. When I became an adult and began to face my own hard challenges, I really started looking for women who were wise, patient and had high endurance. Seeing those type of women really inspired me to educate myself more. Love myself more, know and care for myself better than I had been. Now, I want to reach back to help other women do the same.
What do you want your Royals to remember about you as a Mother?
I want my royals to remember the love I’ve shown to them and my will to never settle for less than my best. I’d love for them to carry these things into their own futures.
I heard that! Are you reading any books right now?
I’m currently reading the book of Proverbs in my bible. Everyday, I read a chapter according to what date it is(ex: Jan 1 – Chapter 1). The book of Proverbs is full of instructions, which is something I definitely need as I’m rebuilding my life.
Name your top 5 favorite blogs or online resources?
Right now I’m not reading any blogs, but I do have my own personal blog which you can check out at www.dionerolfe.blogspot.com. Some of my go-to online resources are Google, dictionary.com and Youtube.
Anything you wish you’d known in your early Motherhood days?
I wish I’d known myself more. I spent the first year of my son’s life as a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom) and I wish I would’ve done more. I wish I would’ve started my business back then, got out and connected with more people. I wish I had taken classes for myself and my son. I wish I explored the world a little more, but I honestly didn’t believe I had the ability to do much more than be a wife and mother.
Well, that has CERTAINLY changed! Lol! What advice would you offer to other Mothers that are also Artists/Writers/Creators/Entrepreneurs/Bloggers struggling to find the time and means to be more creative and reach their goals?
Prioritize! We often spend a lot of time doing things that are not really beneficial or productive (i.e. scrolling down our timelines, watching tv & hanging out often) I think if we’d dedicate that time to our families, businesses, personal development and education about how money works…we’d be better off. Maybe even a little further than where we are at this very moment.
Do you have any traditions with your Royal?
At least once a week, I try to take my son out for ice cream and to a nice park where he can run around freely and play until he gets tired.
Nice! What are the 3 most memorable moments you’ve shared with your Royal that you hope they remembers as adults?
I hope he remembers when we went to Disney world for his 2nd birthday, our first time seeing snow in Stone Mountain, Georgia, and most of all, when our family went to Clearwater beach and built a sand castle cities in the winter time.
I’m sure he will. What kind of legacy do you hope to leave for your Royal?
I hope to leave my royals a legacy of wealth, the knowledge on how to attain wealth and helping others. I want them to know that life isn’t just about them, but about their God-given gifts that will help other people as well.
If you could engrave a lasting quote/mantra in your Royals mind, what would it be?
“Love God, love yourself and then love others. In that order.”
